Let's show the world I'm a Flickr Pro! (2)

Last May I bought myself a Flickr-Pro account… and back then I was fairly impressed to be able to reach 33% of the monthly available capacity (which is 2GB)... But that was in a weekend-uploadr-fest where I uploaded a lot of archives…

This month (september) I’m at 31% and guess what? that’s without uploading archives or such… just everything I photographed this month… 634MB! and no, I didn’t get another camera which takes multimegabyte pics or such… let’s see… 650 pics… hmmmzzz…

Oh, just a reminder, for those of you who get fed up with my Flickr-photos popping up in the regular RSS-feed, there still is the minimal RSS-feed which is without flickr-pics and del.icio.us-bookmarks…

Oh, and you can also sign up to the rss-feed by feedblitz. This way you get new articles mailed to you… which is very handy every once in a while when I have these too-busy-for-more-than-one-update-a-week cycles I seem to be going through every once in a while… ^_^

have a nice weekend all!

a(nother) rockstar in my hometown! ^_^

Last night there was the third Pecha Kucha Night in Groningen. I’ll probably write something about that overhere in a few days. (even though this already was Volume III in Groningen, performing in a slot for me personally was a first!)

As a Groningen-special in our Pecha Kucha Nights, we always have an upcoming artist perform in a slot and to be honest, this one blew me totally away!

Berlin might have Miss Kittin’ but Groningen now has Krause *^_^*

Krause performing in 20×20 seconds slot

A small excerpt from her record company:

Krause knows how to get the attention; with pumping beats, dirty sounds, a tiny black dress and an absurd performance.

I couldn’t have said it better. The best thing is, because she’s signed up with this awesome record company, Platex Records who doesn’t sell you the record but simply gives it to you (download MP3, print out the cover et voila, a CD-single) you’re able to get a taste of this for free, that’s how we like it ^_^

So all of you, download this song, print out the cover and enjoy! *^_^*

It’s even mentioned in this weekend’s Make Podcast so it’s about time the whole wide world get’s a chance to see (and make) it! :-)

Bates' got a mouse(pad) / Elsie-blues

Well, since Bates seems so fond of my SUN-mousepad I’d figure I use this Google pad I just got on EuroOSCON (next to some other Google-schwag)... So now she has her own mousepad and a very tasteful one as well! (my cat’s got a taste for hardware, how appropriate! *^_^*)

Oh, and Elsie had another hickup last night. Everytime something like that happens I go like “all right, this probably will be something fatal!” but this time it seemed she didn’t like the ADB-keyboard all of a sudden, switching keyboards didn’t work either, so in the end I switched her back to using a serial port as a console input/output and off she goes again… (She ran for quite a while like this before, but not long ago I switched to monitor+ADB-keyboard as a console-input/output… I’m pretty sure she booted on that, but not anymore… hmmmz)

Let’s see how long this dramaqueen of a webserver (but I love her!) runs before she finds another excuse to get some attention. *^_^*

Make Fest Brussels

Last night I attended the Make Fest in Brussels, Belgium, which is part of the EuroOSCON (which just ended btw).

It’s been a blast!

Looooot’s of attention, great people, perfect environment. :-)

I’ve got to catch a train in a few minutes so I keep this short, pics can be seen on the Flickr photoset.

Somehow last week (Redmond) and now Brussels almost makes me believe I have this geek rockstar life I’m joking about every now and then…

Just look at this stuff!

...and a rockstar-pic Nadya Peek made :D (to get this straight, this whole rockstar-thing is just a joke, really (but one I enjoy very much…) ;-))

Any way, I’m aware that this isn’t every day reality but it certainly makes me feel good and I’m enjoying every minute of it.

Well, I’m gonna head home now,

bye!

getting ready for Make Fest

I’m hardly back from Redmond, but still…

Today the article I made for BRiGHT got posted there (in Dutch). You could try and see for yourself by the means of Babelfish, but really, my English normally isn’t that bad (or is it? *^_^* )

Any way, next stop: Brussels!

I’m already packing my gear for MAKE’s Make Fest at the EuroOSCON.

I try to pack as much projects in my bag as possible but no, I’m not gonna bring my encrypted fileserver ^_^

(I can show the torrent-interface from there, now I think of it…)

and no, Bates isn’t coming with me either… *^_^*

The EuroOSCON actually kicked off today (monday) but I won’t be able to make(...) it there before wednesday. Once there I will try to attend as much sessions as I can.

If any of you readers is in the vicinity of the Le PLaze Hotel* in Brussels on wednesday-night, feel free to drop by. It’s gonna be fun! (we can always make some) *^_^*

* a pop-up because it’s browserwindowresizehell…

How to get my attention...

Bates, the little pussycat living with me actually does a pretty good job.

When I got home from Redmond she already had her own way of getting me from sleeping my jetlag off, but now she also dictates me when she thinks I worked enough for the day… *^_^*

My SUN mousepad is her new favourite place. On that last pic she even managed to minimize all of my windows my leaning on the left mouse button… tssssssss… My mouse is totally useless on my glass desk so her ways are pretty effective really, a little too effective for my taste but well… ^_^

And I can hear you think “working? but we don’t see anything here?!”... Well, that’s right. I’ve written a piece for Bright on what I got to see in Redmond. Buuut… I’ve got a bucketload of content left from that trip so expect a post about that soon too…

This week I’m going to attend (as a maker) the Make Fest in Brussels, which should be a blast.

After that I need some time-machine to actually write down all the content I’ve gathered…

Until then, I hope Bates let’s me work some more *^_^*

Oh, btw, according to plazes, this whole trip to and from Redmond got me this:

that’s purty quick, ain’t it?...

...but first of all, I’m going to attend my dayjob tomorrow and I travel there by bike. Now something tells me I won’t be able to keep up my average travelling speed… *^_^*

I have to attend a party right now… what a life… ;-)

I’ll put Flickr-uploader to work while I’m already gone from my hotelroom…

travel hint #3

Well, I promised to tell you where I’m located, but too be totally honest, I’m too exhausted now to tell a nice story about how I’m here and what I’m doing here. I hope the pictures will tell you something.

...notice the intranet-address on that can?

...oh, this is me, with in the background the house of … Mr. Bill G., kid you not…

Well, I’m doing fine out here. I’m not here to sign a contract or become a MS fanboy or anything. (Notice my t-shirt?). I do have a great time out here, that’s for sure.

For people interested in what I’m actually doing out here, check the Flickr photoset.

I’ll be back soon ;-)
