a Mac in an envelope?

I’m watching (well… following by refreshing) Steve Jobs Keynote right now on Engadget.

The rumours seem to be true, there is gonna be a MacBook Air and Steve is selling it by showing it’ll fit in an envelope.

But… wait a minute… my old iBook already fitted quite nicely in an envelope! In reality I’ve been using envelopes (with bubbles) as sleeves for my iBook and PowerBook and that (still) works for me.

If fitting inside an envelope is the sales pitch I guess I still don’t have a reason to upgrade from my beloved 12 inch Macs. *^_^*

Next to that, if you’re carrying a $1799 laptop around in an envelope (as is the case with this new MBA), I suggest you take a bubbly envelope (just like me) instead of a manila one. ^_^

I’m only joking of course, the MacBook Air looks great (well, except there’s no replaceable battery as it seems!). I can’t wait to have a look at the real deal (and can’t wait for the hype to blow over ^_^).

    A 13 inch super fragile macbook…
I’d rather keep my 12 inch powerbook.

But a 12 inch macbook pro would be nice.

Oh, I’m holding on to my 12” powerbook for a while too.

I’m a little disappointed they didn’t show a sub-notebook of 12” or smaller. I mean, 13.3” is not what I want and about the MBA being the thinnest. Yeah well, all nice and dandy but I really never ever thought, while holding my powerbook “I wish this notebook was thinner”.

So, afaik, nice but not for me. (see, the hype blows over in no time!)

What I want is a 12 inch intel based roadwarrior from apple made of aluminium

I want to be sure that my laptop is solid, reliable and ready whenever I need it right out of my backpack.

I don’t want to take too much care of it.

I think that it could probably be a real nice road warrior system, but how effective is it if you have to have somewhere to set down the cd drive, and also, how fast is it if it’s just powered over a single usb port?

Lastly, what happened to his thumb?

And of course some really business savy people came out with this :-) http://www.manilamac.com/
I wouldn’t be surprised if the MacBook Air shipped in a manila envelope in the box…

All good things to those who wait.

To be honest, the first thing I thought when I saw the air was along the lines of “Oh fuck, they named a friggin’ COMPUTER after that flaming idiot.”

Then again, I think I read this blog a little too much.

hahaha, well, to be honest, it’s only because you mention it. It didn’t cross my mind at all and I guess I already totally forgotten about him. Somehow I like to keep it that way too ;-)
