Pecha Kucha night Groningen has been a blast!
After I first came across Pecha Kucha night on the excellent PingMag, everything around this magical evening with a magical format, which originated in Tokyo, has been a blast, and so was last night! When we had our first Pecha Kucha night in my hometown Groningen.

This must be a first, having a band, Une in 2 slots of the Pecha Kucha night! :-) (and yes, that’s my little green ibook, on which I made the Keynote-presentation)

And another first for a Pecha Kucha night I guess… After each presentation we had these two loonies, Gunther & Umtzi, who got 20 seconds to react on the just given presentation… Only thing was, one slot wasn’t filled (the presenter simply wasn’t there) and so Gunther & Umtzi all of a sudden got a whole 6:40 to entertain the audience :D (which was a little too much for some of us…)
Anyways, it’s been marvelous and I can’t wait for Pecha Kucha night Groningen Volume 2!

It sure as hell wasn’t too much for me. Gunther & Umtzi ruled. In pseudo-german, these “early ‘80s housemuzik pioneers” stole the show as far as I’m concerned. The lowest form of art we ever saw at a Nieuwe Garde meeting, or pretty much anywhere I guess. So something for the postpostpostpostpostmodern snob.
Oh no, it wasn’t too much for me either. I was part of the audience that had to dry it’s eyes during and after their upfront unplanned performance… :-) Raw and on the edge (or over it for some…). I think Gunther&Umtzi and Une were a wonderful spice-up (not that it needed that, but still) for the whole night. We need something like this the next time too! :-)

The best presentation was the one of the “Groninger druipsteen grotten”, a simply good idea in my eyes.
